NBI launch Tuko buyer crackdown according to a report by Sun Star Davao. THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will launch a crackdown on buyers, not on sellers, of "tuko" (Philippine gecko) in the Davao Region to finally stop the capture of this endemic creature. The Malaysian police has received information on the case of a Malaysian Gecko businessman abducted by 10 armed men in the Philippines last Sunday. Following that, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar, said discussions were being held with the local authorities in the Philippines on the case. The Foreign Ministry, in a statement issued yesterday, said the victim was Nazarudin Saidin, 38, from Sungai Buluh, Selangor and that it would continue to monitor the case and cooperate with the authorities there for latest development on the kidnapping. Two of my friends sell their tokek to a Germans. I heard about a buyer from Japan coming to buy Tokay Gecko from a friends in Kota Kinabalu before. Other then that, these are most probably just runner. You can try deal with them but for me, most of the time it will be a waste of time. Reports indicated that there is rampant trade and transport of this wildlife species. Toko is wildlife species under Republic Act 9147 or the Philippine wildlife law. Do you know how to catch tokek or Tokay Gecko? I asked my dad how he catch his tokek. My dad is not a Tokek expert or breeder. He keep this animal just as an experience on how to keep that animals as a pets. If you look at my picture, the tokek can get out from my dad cage easily. The holes are to big for his tokek. Maybe they keep on staying because my dad keep on giving them free food. He feed them home lizards that he slings during his free time. Read More.
